“The company were pleasant and friendly and the students felt at ease with them.

The rehearsal technique for the play was relevant to the students exam requirements and they responded to it very positively.

The whole package that was delivered was educationally illuminating and will deepen their understanding and appreciation of the play.

I very much hope that Theatrical Niche could come back next year.”

Acting Like Mad pose challenging questions and look to spark creative interpretation in every piece of theatre that we present. We have accordingly taken great pleasure in discussing our work with young drama students, and nurturing their ideas to the full. As well as Q + A sessions, we offer bespoke workshops within schools and theatres; dedicated to the particular needs of each group. We work through practitioner styles, encourage students’ directorial voices through scene work, and cater each session to syllabus requirements where relevant.

Our workshops are led by Sebastian, Artistic Director of Acting Like Mad, and are a unique opportunity to delve into the texts being investigated with the head of a highly innovative and critically acclaimed theatre company. We collaborate on scene-work with the highly skilled and trained cast from each show; meaning that character work and rehearsal techniques are directly transferrable from our rehearsal room to your school.

This is where the theatre professional and the young drama student meet - providing endless opportunities to find out more about the industry and how one works on a production at a professional level, as well as plumbing the insights that both the director and actor have unearthed and invigorated, when working on the text. Our aim is to create an open environment, so we take the greatest pleasure in hearing your students' ideas.

Although we specialise in workshops for A-level and As-level students, we also provide for GCSE groups, and are in fact able to create workshops for any interested parties, regardless of age or qualification.

We offer workshops varying from 1-3 hours in length, and can work to your schedule. When on tour, we are usually available in your area a day either side of the performance date, or on the performance date however, we can return to your location to suit you on alternative dates. ALM are London-based, so any workshops in the greater area can be provided at any time.

Our prices vary from £95 for a one hour session, to £250 for a 3 hour session. Please enquire about multi-workshop discounts.

“An innovative and inspiring take, which enabled my students to see the subject matter in a new light.

It really helped my students think outside the box and see how they could approach answering questions on how to direct their adaptation on 'Woyzeck', which is part of their A-Level exam.

Lots of food for thought from the movement and physicalisation to the design concept. What I really enjoyed was seeing a production that breathed new air into a play that I know inside out and which enabled me to reconnect with the text creatively.

The chat with the cast/director after and the Education Pack were the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for an unforgettable evening.”
